Detoured traffic from the Hood River White Salmon Bridge closure is creating long backups on both sides of the Bridge of the Gods. Motorists are urged avoid distracted driving (please put your phones down even when you are stopped in traffic), be patient and courteous and share the road.
Unlike the Hood River White Salmon bridge, bicyclists and pedestrians are allowed on the Bridge of the Gods - if you're not used to sharing the bridge with hikers and bikers - this is important to know. Share the road.
Speed limit on the bridge is 15 MPH. Breezeby works on the Bridge of the Gods so if you see that green light at the toll booth, there is no need to stop.
Before heading out on your de-tour of the Gorge, we advise you to check your coolant, bring your water and your patience for your detoured drive. It's a beautiful day in the Gorge and you have a great excuse to take your time and enjoy it.
